Rot resistant in
three ways:
1) Made of Gurjan, highly durable
wood species
2) Surface dipped:-The
coating which gives a dark color is a mix of copper sulfate, sodium
dichromate
and chromic acid.
This is to to prevent termites and fungus from
entering the plywood after manufacture and
while in marine-use.
3) In the Resin-glue between the plies:-
PROTECTO-GLP
is a specially developed anti-wood
borer, anti-termite and anti-fungus formulation for addition as a glue line
poison into Phenol-Formaldehyde (PF) resin used in the manufacture of
exterior plywood. This formula is based on biodegradable organic chemicals
and has been specially developed for wood panels and other
wood based
products through in-house R&D efforts.
NOTE: Protecto-GLP does not change the desirable properties of the PF
glue such as flow
time, gel time, viscosity, pH, bond strength, etc. Protecto-GLP does not affect the Pot Life of
the glue,
it does not affect the rubber rollers on the glue spreader and it does not
affect the bond strength so that the shear strength (both wet and dry) of
finished plywood is
unaffected. Protecto-GLP offers a broad-spectrum
protection to the finished plywood.
Properties: Reddish-yellow colored paste, soluble in water only in the
presence of alkali such
as caustic soda. Readily soluble in PF resin
