RIGA PREPRIME
Product
Birch plywood which is overlaid on one side or both the sides with a
preprimed painting film, thus preparing the surface of the panel for painting.
This film is a good base for painting and does not require any priming or other
preparation.
Application
Walls, ceilings, surfaces of furniture, front doors to be painted, lorries,
factory rooms, containers, household, trailer side boards, traffic signs,
information and advertising boards.
Advantage
Environmentally friendly, easy and fast to paint, less consumption of paint,
does not require priming, does not crack during interior and exterior
application.
Recommendations
Following paints are suitable: epoxy, polyurethane, alkyd paint,
water-soluble acrylic paint for exterior use. Painting must be performed
according to the paint manufacturers' instructions.
Gluing classes
Plywood is glued with waterproof phenol formaldehyde resin adhesive. Bonding
is resistant to weather and boiling water. It meets requirements of the
following standards:
EN 314 / 3rd class;
BS 1203 / H4 (previously WBP);
DIN 68705 Part 3 / type BFU 100.
Formaldehyde emission
In accordance with the standard EN 13986 formaldehyde emission
meets the Class E1 requirements. Test method EN 717 Part 2.
Overlaying
The panel is overlaid with a preprimed painting paper and glue film during
hot-pressing process. Total weight of surfacing (depends on the applied films)
is 350-400 g/m2. It is possible to have such an overlay (PRE/PRE)
on both sides (identical or different), or preprimed painting paper on one side
and phenol film on the reverse side, or a preprimed painting paper on one side
and the plywood quality on the reverse side is grade BB; WGE.
Film colour
Light grey.
Overlaying characteristics
The preprimed painting paper forms a base that does not need any sanding or
priming. Thus, painting becomes easier and faster to accomplish. Paint
consumption is reduced and such an overlay prevents the cracking of the paint
coating when the product is used under outdoor conditions.
Edges sealing
Edges of the panels are sealed against moisture penetration by using grey
acrylic paint. Other colors are available, and edges may be unsealed at
customers' request.
