WHAT IS AQUAPLAS
Aquaplas is a lightweight marine-grade PVC foam panel engineered as a rigid closed-cell sheet that combines the strength of solid PVC with significantly reduced weight. Commonly used as a substrate in marine upholstery, cabinetry, structural insert, and support applications, Aquaplas delivers moisture resistance, excellent screw and staple retention, and superior impact strength compared with many other foam or plastic boards.
SPECIALTY APPLICATION
Aquaplas is considered a specialty panel because it is manufactured from closed-cell PVC foam rather than wood veneer construction. Its lightweight, moisture-impervious structure makes it suitable for marine upholstery backing, cabinetry components, and interior applications where reduced weight and resistance to water exposure are critical.
FEATURES
-
Lightweight yet Rigid – Closed-cell PVC foam construction reduces overall panel weight while maintaining rigidity for structural and substrate use.
-
Moisture & Weather Resistant – Impervious to water and resistant to humidity, rot, and swelling, making it suitable for marine and outdoor environments.
-
Excellent Fastener Retention – Designed for superior staple and screw holding capability compared with standard foam boards.
-
Impact Strength – Rigid and durable, providing good resistance to denting and surface damage.
-
Fabrication Friendly – Can be cut, drilled, and shaped using standard woodworking or composite tools.

RECOGNIZED CERTIFICATIONS
YOU CAN TRUST
TSCA Title VI Compliant

CORE

Aquaplas panels consist of a closed-cell PVC foam core that is lightweight, dimensionally stable, and resistant to moisture and environmental exposure.
FACE

Both surfaces of the panel are smooth, uniform, and ready for laminate, veneer, or finish application. The foam surface provides a stable substrate for adhesives and mechanical fasteners.
ADHESIVE

The panel core and faces are homogenous PVC foam. Bonding to other materials is achieved with compatible adhesives or mechanical fastening, depending on the application.
EDGE

Exposed edges show consistent closed-cell PVC foam throughout. Edges should be sealed or finished as required in marine, architectural, or furniture installations to maintain a clean appearance.
