FLAT CUT TEAK

SIZES & THICKNESSES

Thicknesses: 4/4, 5/4, 6/4, 8/4, 10/4, 12/4, 16/4

Lengths: 6' and up (up to 16')

Flat cut (plain sliced) teak is produced by sawing parallel to the growth rings, creating wider grain patterns and a more varied appearance compared to quarter sawn stock. This cut provides high yield from the log while maintaining the natural durability and stability teak is known for, making it a practical choice for many woodworking and marine applications.

GRAIN STRUCTURE

Cut tangential to the growth rings, resulting in cathedral or wide flat grain patterns across the face.

APPEARANCE

Displays more variation in color and figure, with larger grain movement visible than in quarter sawn.

WORKABILITY

Machines well and accepts finishes; high silica content may affect tool sharpness over time.

DURABILITY

Retains teak’s natural resistance to decay, moisture, and insects, suitable for both interior and exterior use.
