RIBBON SAPELE

Ribbon Sapele also referred to as (Ribbon Mahogany) or (Quarter-Cut Sapele). Features a straight, stripe-like grain created by quarter-slicing the log. This cutting method reveals a natural ribbon figure across the surface that becomes especially striking after finishing. Its deep reddish-brown color and refined grain pattern make it a popular choice in high-end cabinetry, interiors, and marine joinery. The face veneer is typically about 0.6mm thick, offering visual depth while maintaining surface stability

FEATURES

PANEL CROSS SECTION
Ribbon Sapele plywood is constructed with a core of stable hardwood plies and faced with a quarter-cut Sapele veneer, approximately 0.6mm thick. The interior layers are bonded using waterproof adhesive and laid in alternating grain directions for strength and dimensional stability. This construction supports heavy-duty use while preserving the decorative surface appearance.

CORE
The core is built entirely from sapele hardwood veneers of uniform density and thickness, ensuring balanced construction and minimizing voids. This through-and-through composition provides structural integrity for marine and exterior use.

FACE
Rotary-cut whole-piece sapele veneers are used for the face, providing a seamless surface without splicing. Each veneer is sanded to a uniform finish for consistency and suitability in marine-grade finishing.

ADHESIVE
Panels are bonded with WBP Type 1 phenolic resin, a waterproof adhesive formulated to resist boiling water, high humidity, and prolonged moisture exposure. This resin ensures permanent bonds between veneers, making it suitable for exterior and marine-grade applications.

EDGE
Manufactured with a solid hardwood core that extends to the edges, reducing the chance of gaps or filler. Minimal voids ensure clean machining, strong fastener holding, and reliable performance in structural and marine applications.
