QUARTER SAWN TEAK

Sizes & Thicknesses Available

Lengths: 6' and up (up to 16')
This cut is made at right angles to the growth rings, producing a straight, uniform grain with minimal variation. The method increases dimensional stability, reduces the risk of warping, and creates a clean, consistent surface appearance. Because of its strength and refined look, it is often preferred for marine decking, cabinetry, and fine woodworking where performance and appearance are equally important.
GRAIN STRUCTURE
Growth rings are cut at 60–90° angles, producing a vertical grain with tight, uniform lines across the face.
DIMENSIONAL STABILITY
Quarter-sawn stock minimizes shrinkage across the width, reducing movement and distortion in service.
WORKABILITY
Machines and finishes cleanly; high silica content can have a dulling effect on cutting edges.
DURABILITY

Naturally resistant to decay, moisture, and insects, with excellent performance in exterior and marine applications.
KEY FEATURES
Consistent Grain
-
Quarter sawing produces a tight, straight grain pattern that gives boards a uniform appearance and predictable performance.
Dimensional Stability
-
The vertical grain orientation reduces expansion and contraction across the board, minimizing movement in service.
Precision Use
-
Stability and clean grain structure make this cut ideal for precision joinery and detailed woodworking.
Versatile Applications
-
Commonly used in cabinetry, decking, and trim work where both strength and consistent appearance are required.
