WHAT IS FIRE RATED PLYWOOD
Fire Rated Plywood is a wood-based panel that has been pressure-treated with fire-retardant chemicals to reduce flame spread and slow combustion. While maintaining the structural characteristics of traditional plywood, the treatment enhances its performance in applications where building codes require fire resistance. It is commonly specified in commercial, institutional, and marine interior environments.
SPECIALTY APPLICATION
Fire Rated Plywood is considered a specialty panel because it is chemically treated to improve fire performance compared to standard plywood. This treatment reduces flame spread and smoke development, making it suitable for installations where compliance with fire safety standards is required.
FEATURES
-
Fire-Retardant Treatment – Pressure-treated to reduce flame spread and enhance fire performance.
-
Code-Compliant Applications – Commonly used where building or marine regulations require fire-rated materials.
-
Structural Integrity – Retains the strength and machinability of conventional plywood.
-
Moisture-Resistant Options – Available with exterior-grade bonding depending on specification.
-
Versatile Use – Suitable for wall panels, ceilings, partitions, and interior assemblies.

RECOGNIZED CERTIFICATIONS
YOU CAN TRUST
TSCA Title VI Compliant
Meets U.S. EPA requirements for formaldehyde emissions under the Toxic Substances Control Act.
FSC® Certified
Responsible sourcing that meets the standards of the Forest Stewardship Council®
CARB Phase 2 Compliant
Engineered panels tested to meet California’s strict formaldehyde emission standards.
CORE

Constructed from layered wood veneers arranged in a cross-laminated configuration, pressure-treated with fire-retardant chemicals to improve fire resistance while maintaining dimensional stability.
FACE

Wood veneer faces may be sanded or left utility-grade depending on specification. Surfaces are suitable for finishing, laminating, or coating in interior applications.
ADHESIVE

Bonded using structural adhesive systems appropriate to the panel grade, with treatment compatible with fire-rated performance requirements.
EDGE

Exposed edges reveal traditional veneer core construction. Edges may be sealed or finished depending on application and environmental exposure.
